Welbeck Street Car Park — Research Brief — OUGD603

To provide the research brief with a more specific concept, we decided to focus our attention on one specific subject that has been receiving a lot of attention in the brutalist community on social media. And that is the NCP car park down Welbeck Street in London.

This is due to the fact that there has been unfortunate news that the building will be demolished after being refused listing status by Historic England.

It is classed as architecturally notable, featuring an ingenious use of concrete to create a modular design like no other before it. Making it a symbol amongst those that admire not just specifically brutalist architecture, but architecture as a whole.

This will be the subject of our research, in order to create something that could not just focus on the sheer scale of this trend in social media, but how they can come together as a community and make their mark on the industry.
