End of Year Show Rationale — EOYS — OUGD603

Providing a rationale as to why my designs deserve be short-listed:

This strategy is a great way to incorporate university-wide involvement, by giving students a chance to submit their own pieces for use in various promotional materials. It also provides a basis on which to represent the risk taking element of the arts. But more importantly it directly exhibits the sheer diverse range of work produced at the college, whilst also giving the audience a sneak preview without giving away too much, allowing a great sense of mystery of wanting to find out more.

Not only would this present an opportunity for people to submit their own work, it’s also a chance for photographers to get involved in the form of experimenting with the various printouts of submitted work being used the final outcomes (Creating a much more organic outcome to the digital variations proposed in this submission).

Additionally, animators can provide their bespoke knowledge to create snappy animations of layers being torn away to ‘Reveal’ the type underneath as a means of digital promotion.Another great aspect of this direction is that the user can be more immersed in the experience, with the likes of invitations requiring them to ‘tear and reveal the details’. The tearing almost works as an ironic visual pun to the creative process of an art student, for example the early stages in a new project, tearing away the countless idea’s until finally it clicks and the big idea reveals itself.
